Waxhaw, NC
So folks, I get this question all the time. Why would anybody choose the Waxhaw-Weddington area? Well, you’re about 25 minutes away from one of the largest metropolitan cities in the Southeast. Not to mention you get a small town feel to go along with it. It is fantastic. So when we’re talking about Waxhaw and Weddington, a lot of people get those confused, quite honestly, because they’re so close in proximity. One of the main differences you’re going to have between the two is that Weddington is going to give you much more of an estate feel as far as the homes you can purchase. Waxhaw is going to give you more of that family-friendly, small town charm feel.
Another thing that’s truly unique about Waxhaw is the fact that you get your own designated downtown area with shops, restaurants like Waxhaw Creamery. You got a brewery here at Dream Chasers, and you can even grab a cup of coffee across the street at Burney’s Bakery.
Things to do in the Area...
The neighborhood...
The wife and I lived in Waxhaw for about six years. One of the things that drew us to this area was the fact that it was so family friendly. You really get a small town feel. You can come watch fireworks on the 4th of July, they have a Christmas tree lighting, then you hop right back in the car and head back over to your neighborhood. You can literally go from the suburbs to small world charm in a matter of minutes. It does not get any better than that. If you’re thinking about moving to the Waxhaw area, average home prices are usually going to vary because the area is so large. But instead of telling you, why don’t I go show you a fantastic community, Millbridge, and you’ll see what I’m talking about.
Millbridge is a fantastic community, definitely made for families. You’ve got the Amenities Center here with a pool behind, huge slide, basketball court. You’ve got a gym, there’s a coffee bar in the Amenities Center. Everything that you guys could want. If you’re actually thinking about moving here, the average price point is going to run you anywhere from 420,000 on upwards of 820,000 with that average sale price being right at 555,000. When the family and I lived here, we loved it. We were right across from the pool. The wife could go to yoga class. They have an amenities calendar with so many things to do on a daily basis, it is really geared towards living a suburban life, not very far from the big city of Charlotte.
We’ve made it to our next community, which is Lawson. The average price point in here is going to run anywhere from 352,000 all the way up to 900,000. As you can see, that’s a huge diversity of the type of home that you can get in this community. Anywhere from 2,000 square feet all the way up to 5,000 square feet. We have amenities, you’ve got sidewalks, you’ve got a ton of things for families to do in this area. Just a year ago, the average price per square foot in here was about $168. That increased up to $191 a square foot, an increase of about 13%. You can see the type of equity you’re going to gain when you live in a community like Waxhaw.
Other communities of notable mention around here, especially like this one, are going to be Cureton, the Falls at Weddington. Higher price points, we want to look at Providence Downs and Providence Downs South. Now those communities are going to have larger lots, more state style, but you’re definitely going to get some of the same type of amenities in those communities as well.
